Hannah's Third Blog

After correcting Abril's blog, Abril chose me to do the blog (which is great because today is Tuesday). Ayden asked me if he could write on my arm and I said no. Agenda Blog corrections Test #1 grading Spring grades Hw RJ 4.2  pg 239-266 After Bridget asked Ms. Nakada how to stop making bad decisions, Ms. Nakada told us about her brother getting suspended for a day after throwing snowballs at moving cars and how she used to be a talker at school. Now, Ms. Nakada is passing back our tests so that way we can grade them. Conlan is making weird growling noises each time he gets an answer correct. Ms. Nakada is explaining why there are brackets (it's because the words were not in the original text) on one of the answers. Everyone is really confused, because Ms. Nakada is telling us to add a point at the end of our test (she numbered our test wrong). Ms. Nakada is now educating us on the difference between bullying and being mean. After Bridget tells Ms. Nakada

Abril's Second Blog

Okay, I'm gonna try to win a point for the class and have a perfect blog. I fear that my poor spelling will make that not possible. I'll just write/type really slow. AGENDA BLOG corrections Q & Q 5 week grades reader's workshop HW RJ 4.1  TKAM  p.208-238 First, we correct Anthony's blog. Nope, before that, he reads his blog and chooses me, the only person left to write their second blog, and I go over to sit by Ayden. Now, we move on to Q & Q. Ms. Nakada gives us a brief history lesson on the hardships faced during WW2. I didn't catch much of it as I was typing. QUOTE "If you have the feeling something is wrong, don't be afraid to speak up."-Fred Korematsu QUESTION How important is it for people to stay informed on current events? We start making notes on  TKAM  book vs. movie. Ms. Nakada continues the  TKAM  movie wile she checks notes and reading jour

I would like to say before anything, that the class will not get a point for this blog. No caps. AGENDA blog corrections  RJ readers workshop  TKAM  book v. movie  HW have a lovely weekend So, everyone started to say their summaries. Then, we talked about the book, I like that if you have to write the blog you can just be there, and not be bothered, but I guess we are moving on to reader's workshop because Ms. Nakada told us to make a pile of reading journals. Well, we did not move on to reading journals, but someone asked if Ms. Nakada believed in spanking children. Ms. Nakada said, "No," and asked if we would want her to check our journals on Monday or today and every one voted to check our journals on Monday although if you finished she would check them today. Then, we started to watch the movie To Kill A Mockingbird.  It is a black and white movie and I can't keep up with the movie. I think that I will have to do this blog again because of how

Agenda BLOG • Corrections • RJ√ Plot Analysis Reader's Workshop HW RJ 3.3 TKAM p. 180-207 We walked into class, and Ms. Nakada read her blog. Once she was done, the class read their summaries to their table partners, and then started talking about  To Kill a Mockingbird  and how the black community didn't all think the same. The discussion didn't last long. She started reading  TKAM  to the class. In the middle of Ms. Nakada reading Ayden interrupts and tells her that she should do NPR. Now the class is opening up their english journals to take notes on 'Text-Based Questions' and plot lines. aydemdddtdtrrfvfg (Ayden wrote that). Veronica wants me to write about her in the blog. She waved at me. I'm going to read this book next to me since I'm bored. Emmette came up to me and told me to write/say something nice about her for once (like I don't do that all the time). Never mind, I don't know what to say. Ayden came up to me and was lik

Agenda Blog ~൦~ corrections Quiz #1 HW: RJ 3.2  TKAM  p. 150-179 My fourth period came into class and found their seats in the different set-up. Then, Harli came up front and read her blog. We corrected the blog and then moved on to the quiz on  TKAM Part I . Students worked on the quiz for the rest of the period, until it was time for the impromptu portion. Students prepped and gave speeches for the prompt: Jean Louise Finch. I collected quizzes and then everyone was excused to lunch.

Agenda BLOG corrections Review for Quiz #1 Reader's Workshop RJ✓ HW Study/Prep for Quiz #1 First of all, it was the first time we did blog corrections in our English notebooks. It wasn't that bad. Then, Ms. Nakada told us to turn to page 100 in TKAM . Then, everyone asked if Ayden had read the book because he didn't know where Atticus said it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. On page 105 Scout said pass the d*** ham. Veronica explained chapter 12 to the class. Ms. Nakada is explaining the visual of Jem destroying Ms. Dubose front yard and breaking Scouts baton. Abril explains that the end of  chapter 12 is about Ms. Dubose having the courage to quit her morphine addiction. Right now Ms. Nakada is writing an impromptu about a lamp. Ok, well this was the shortest blog ever alrighty, bye.

Hello Agenda Blog corrections Q and Q Impromptu RJ 3.1: Write a summary of Part I of TKAM "ppgang" -Ayden Class has now begun, and Brandon has picked me for the blog, so now we are here. I am still a slow typer, so sorry if this blog is a little short. When I sit down to do the blog, I don't get a "Welcome to the dogg house," from Ayden, instead, he just kinds of pokes me with the end of his pencil. After we correct the blog, we listen to a quote from former president Obama with a scream from the devil at the end, He gives the quote from book "To Kill A Mocking Bird". Oh wait never mind Ayden just welcomed me to the dawg or dhag house were good. After the clip we do the quote and question of the week, The quote being:                 "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view" And the question is                How can young people take a stand? My favorite answer is "grow

Agenda Blog Corrections RJ Taking a Stand Impromptu: thesis/plan  Reader's Workshop HW: RJ 2.3  TKAM p.132-149 Please do not get mad at me for blinding you. We start the day reading Zia's blog all the while Chris and Yasin are telling Zia to choose me for the blog. Of course she chooses me. Ms. Nakada shows us an  Anne of Green Gables trailer. The rest of the class reads their reading journals to each other. Once the class has finished, Abril volunteers to read the summary. We now must get our English journals, and answer the question: "What does it mean to take a stand" Veronica and Ayden volunteer to answer the question of taking a stand. Ms. Nakada wants us to take a moment to think of historical examples of people taking a stand. Ms. Nakada tells us about Tank Man, a man who would not let a tank pass for a pro-democracy movement of the people, and talked to the man in the tank. No one knows what happened to him. Charlotte gives an example o

We walked into class, and wrote down the agenda. AGENDA BLOG corrections Reader's Workshop RJ check Taking A Stand HW RJ 2.2 TKAM p. 102-113 Ms. Nakada is talking about speech and debate, and the events that you can do. They are Declamation, POI, IMPROMPTU, Congress, and Duo. Now, Ms. Nakada is checking our reading journals while the rest of us do reader's workshop. We only need four more points until we reach ten, so I'm hoping I don't make any mistakes (which I probably will.) Nothing is really happening, so I am going to read. In last night's reading, it becomes winter in Maycomb, which it never really is. Atticus wakes Scout up in the middle of the night because Miss Maudie's house is on fire. Atticus notices that Scout is covered in a blanket that she didn't have when she came out of the house. Jem tells Atticus about the knothole, the cement, and his mended pants. I feel like this the first time in a while that we actually got to doing

Why, Charlotte, why? Anyways, we walked into class, sat down, and wrote down the agenda. Agenda Blog · Corrections Q&Q Reader's Workshop RJ ⎷ We watched a short video of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech and talked a bit about the news. After that, we read Charlotte's blog. I knew I was gonna be chosen next when Charlotte was chosen last week. When I walked over to the computer to do the blog, Ayden greeted me with, "Welcome to the dog house."  Ms. Nakada is talking about something, but I'm not really paying attention. And now the class is talking about the difference between sexual assault and rape. I don't even know how we got to this topic. Ayden is now asking Ms. Nakada if groping Conlan's knee is sexual assault, and she said yes. Uh, can we get off that topic now? Please? Now, the whole class is talking about the tea thing from last year's science class and hugging... Um, ok..... Anyways

AGENDA blog corrections RJ check The Golden Rule HW: Enjoy the long weekend! We started class with correcting Delaney's blog, which was only missing one period. Ms. Nakada gave our class a point any way, making us only six points away from another pizza party. SIDE NOTE: pineapple should not be on pizza (just an opinion). Ms. Nakada went around the class, checking our reading journals to make sure we completed all 4 of the assigned summaries. A lot of people have said that they don't like  To Kill A Mockingbird , but I think that it is actually a very good book (though at times it is slow).  In these last few chapters, Jem unfortunately lost his pants in an effort to escape the Radley yard, where they were being shot at. Their excuse was that they were playing strip poker, which, as Ms. Nakada points out, isn't much better. When Jem goes back later in the night to get his pants, he finds them neatly folded and patched up. Jem and Scout continue

Agenda   BLOG · corrections RJ  Quick write #1  Homework- RJ 1.4  TKAM  - pg 67-84 We started class by reading our summaries from  To Kill A Mockingbird,  skipping the blog corrections. Once we were done, Ms. Nakada read a part of the book out loud, while the class listened.  When Ms. Nakada figured out that lots of people hadn't been reading the book, she told us that we needed to be all caught up, with both reading, and summaries, by tomorrow. We reviewed what we did in class yesterday, for the people who missed it because of drama, went over the Golden Rule, and then proceeded to start our quick write.  The question that we wrote about was:  "How does Atticus urge Jem and Scout to abide by the Golden Rule? Give examples."  The Golden rule is to:  "Treat others the way you'd like to be treated."  The class brainstormed a few examples, and then Ms. Nakada put her completed quick write up as an example, which was color cod

Bridget's Second Blog

I walked into class and had to get my paper signed, because I wasn't here yesterday. Bruno, the minute I saw you had done the blog, I knew that you were going to pick me for the blog. I would just like to point out, this is the second time you have picked me, and I'm starting to feel targeted. Agenda: blog- corrections reading journal check text based questions Homework: RJ 1.2 read page: 20-42 ( I'm really confused by this whole number thing going on, but whatever) Everyone is really disappointed in having to read  To Kill A Mockingbird  and people are being caught for faking their summary for the first awful chapter. Ms. Nakada is explaining something right now but I am really bad at this whole multitasking thing so I have no idea what is happening. We are now learning about a speech and debate thing that Ms. Nakada did for some thingy with a black book. I think we are supposed to answer the question on the board, but I honestly have no idea, but h
