Camilla's DC Blog

Camila’s Second Blog    On our first day in Washington, th e wake up call was at 6:30 a.m. Most people didn’t sleep well, and I heard someone say that he thought the hotel was on fire and that the wake up call was the fire alarm. Breakfast was on the lower level at 7:00. Then, we met our tour guide Chad, and went to the bus.   We started the day by going to the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.  Then, we went to some museums.  In the Natural Histor y Museum,  Chad told to go see the Hope diamond. In the American History Museum, we had to find Abraham Lincoln’s hat. Next, we went to the African American History and Culture Museum before going to take a look at the white house where Chad told us about a protest that has been going for years, and that we could ask the people in the tent who would be happy to tell us. Also, we saw someone important going in to the white house, but we didn’t know who it was.

elaena’s DC blog  Hello! It is our last day in Washington.😭I am struggling to type right now because I cannot feel my fingers. It’s so cold. It is snowing. It is currently 30°F. We just had a snowball fight outside our hotel. Everyone went inside after half an hour because it was so cold, but some of us stayed outside. I went inside after a while and sat in the lobby with everyone. We took a picture with Bob before we left. Then, we gathered our things and waited outside to board our bus. Our trip to the zoo was cancelled due to the snow storm:( I was so excited. I have never been to the zoo. We went to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. It was huge. We just looked around inside for about ten minutes. Then, we all went outside and had another snowball fight. Isaac hit me in the head again. Koury hit me really hard with a HUGE snowball and it is inside my shirt so I am very soaked. I can’t feel anything. We headed to the Fashion Centre at

So today we are supposed to go to the air and space Smithsonian musuem. We were supposed to go to the zoo but it got closed. See I could rsnt on and on about how bad LA's weather is because there is barely and rain and no snow. No snow means no fun. Like no skiing no snowboarding and no nothing. Like that is horrible. I think a highlight of this trip is the musuem of African American history and the Holocaust musuem. I think they knocked some sense into people of how bad stuff really was. The African American museum rlly hit me hard cause I knew it was bad but not that bad. So I ate breakfast packed my stuff and waited in the lobby for our chaperones. Then we put our stuff in the bus then we went to the air and space(my favorite Smithsonian), the newseum the museum of news, and then a mall just to finish the da off before our flight. Plus our flight might be cancelled cause it snowed here and it's raining in la. We had like a million snowballfights and it was awesome.  Turns ou

Hey guys, just a heads up that there will be a lot of mistakes. Here's the agenda AGENDA Blog Corrections DC Blogs Book Brackets NaPoWriMo! HW~Relax-take some time off-turn off your screens! We walk into class, sit down, and write down the agenda. Then, Maddie reads her blog and the class corrects it. Ayden said something that upset Maddie. It's ok Maddie, Ayden doesn't know what's he talking about. After that, Ms. Nakada tells us to take out our book brackets and tells us we have to fill it out in ink. "Yo, it's Ayden. Sorry, Maddie, I'm a silly Billy, and I don't know what I am talking about. Feel better, Dogg." Ms. Nakada turns toward the computer and notices that no one was doing the blog. She told Maddie to choose someone and I immediately put my hand up since I wanted to do the blog on a "minimum day." There. Happy, Abril? I said minimum day instead of short day. I suddenly hear a weird noise coming from my left. I

This is from the second full day, Monday 19     I woke up to the startling wake-up call. It's starting to annoy me and it's only my second day. I dress warmer than before because according to the weather app on my phone it was gonna be colder (this was only true for half the day). Soon we're heading down to breakfast (April, Camilla and myself as we are sharing a room). There are bacon, eggs and the infamous extremely slow waffle maker (also fruit, yogurt, pastries stuff and cereal), I serve myself the bacon, eggs a banana and a cinnamon roll. Once we're all done we head to the bus, where amazing Bob was waiting for us and we got on.      I forgot to charge my camera, so I did it on the bus because the bus has outlets, then I put some earbuds in and zoned out. Chad, our guide person, (who goes by his middle name) tells us about stuff we're passing and our schedule for the day. Then the parents make him tell us that the hotel doesn't like how much noise we

Hey, this is the only blog of our last day, eh?  We woke up and were pretty sad that it was our last day in DC and that this was our only day to play in the snow. Our room left off to the drop-off zone, where we threw snowballs and snow bombs at each other. A few of us were going to make a snowman, but you know how 8th grade coordination is. After a bunch of playing around and tipping on the verge of frostbite, the Almighty Bob and his prophet Chad showed up, who took us to the largest Catholic church in North America, which isn’t even a church. It’s a basilica, because it’s so darn big. But whatever, basilicas are just big churches. I went inside, removed my hat and sunglasses, educated my non-believing brethren about going to church, and browsed around. After walking around on the lower level and seeing all the stuff they had to offer downstairs, we went back up and bombarded everyone with heaping loads of snow. This continued for a while until the Almighty Bob shows up in his bu

HELLO!!! Maddie here! This is my first blog that is not written on a Monday. So, let's put up the agenda that nobody reads on their blogs. Agenda Blog Corrections D.C. Blogs Reader's Workshop Book Bracket HW: RJ 11.3 15-30 pages  Ayden isn't here so it did not get the special greeting: "Welcome to the dogg house." Is that how you're supposed to spell it? I don't care. We start the period off by correcting Bridget's blog and deciphering whether or not we have read all the D.C. blogs. We are up to date! Ms. Nakada is yelling at Bridget to stop chewing on plastic. Bridget's solution is to chew on her sweatshirt. Great.  We then move into the BOOK BRACKET. Veronica exclaims that the Polar Express is a great book...even though she only saw the movie. Ms. Nakada gets up and grabs the book! HOW DOES SHE HAVE IT AT THE PERFECT TIME TO DESTROY VERONICA"S CLAIM!?!?! MS. NAKADA HAS MAGICAL POWERS!!! Excuse my yelling. Veronica

Today on March 20th, we went to the National Archives, Holocaust Museum, United States Capital, Library of Congress, and last, The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. At the National Archives, there wasn’t much to do, but look and read so it sort of became really boring so a lot of us just sat down. Others like me, were in the bathrooms just to be there. It was alright, I guess. THEN, BOB THE GOAT, MY SAVIOR, CAME. He came late though, but he still came and got us out of the COLD rain, he drove su to, the Holocaust Museum and that was really entertaining but a bit depressing, I don’t have photos allowed because it wasn’t allowed. It was horrible, hard to read, or hear about. Bob took us to this one place to eat and bless up it was sooooo good, and like just yes and i bound like 5 things, two to drink and 3 to eat, but it’s okay because i walked it all off from walking the rest of the day. Then, we walked from where Bob dropped us off to the United States Capital, it was actually bet

Hi! The following blog will cover yesterday’s events: Hey! It’s Monday, March 19, 2018. Today’ll be especially fun seeing as we’re going to explore Arlington National Cemetery and Mount Vernon (George Washington’s Virginia estate), with a small stop for lunch at an Alexandria mall. Finally, we’ll take a “ghost tour” of Alexandria. I’ll check back as soon as we get to Arlington. We’re here! Actually, we’re nearly done with Arlington; so far, we’ve seen the graves of several Medal of Honor recipients (most of which were given to them posthumously), the changing of the guard and wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the grave of Audie Murphy, three memorials to the Challenger, the Iraq hostage crisis, and the 2001 spaceship crash accident (I forgot the name of the ship :( ), Robert E. Lee’s estate (or simply, “Arlington House”), and the grave and memorial of John F. Kennedy and several of his relatives.  It turns out that we didn’t do anything else at Arlington, so I’ll

My blog is about the second to last day of the trip, we started off today later than usual, we left at 8:45 (instead of 7:30) this was great because of jet lag and such. The first thing we went to today was, the monument of archives which was where we saw the real constitution, bill of rights, the 27 amendments and so on. By this day everyone is extremely tired so it was hard to really do anything. Oh yeah and guess who forgot to take pictures... this guy. The only two pictures I have are: The first one is of the capital and the second one is the national library, in the capital of DC. Today also something different, right after dinner we went back to the hotel, which was awesome because we have like an hour and ten minutes of free time. Usually we get back and instantly go to bed because curfew is 9:45, once is curfew you can’t leave your room. There is a security guard is right outside in the hallway so you can’t leave at all. Not even to get water or food if your starving or

I was woken up by the sound of a phone ringing, which was real lying annoying. I had went to check to see what time it was.  It was 6:30 and for some reason I was still really tired.  But then I remembered I was still used to the L.A. time, which would be 3:30am in the morning. After all of this I decided to go to breakfast. After breakfast we all went to the Arlington cemetery where we saw many ceremonies.  Then we saw JFK tomb.  After all of this I’m pretty sure everyone was hungry so we went to the Pentagon Mall. I ate Popeyes.  After we ate we went to the Mount Vernon where Washington lived. After that we went to dinner and ate at some fish market, but I ate a burger. Then we went to a ghost tour which was kind of interesting.  Then we went home and I went to sleep.

I am writing this blog the day after the activity, but we saw a bunch of cool stuff. We went to the Holocaust museum which was a really great experience.  We also went on a Capital tour and saw really cool statues, and also went in the dome.  Right after that, we went to the Library of Congress, and the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. There, we saw portraits of many former presidents as well as Barack Obama and Michelle Obama.

Wassup kidz. It’s Jalen! I know you miss me. I miss Tru, Danielle, and Farrah. I’m currently sitting on a bus and we are driving to eat food. Jared,Anokhee, Joseph, and Rhiana are all playing cards. Chad is blabbing on the mic. I’m so hungry I haven’t had takis in like a week. Okay so I woke up at like 7:30 and went down to breakfast in my pajamas looking like a bum. After breakfast Anokhee and I went up to my hotel room and watched the Kardashians while getting ready for the day. Then we got on the bus and headed to the National Archives (I was asleep literally the whole bus ride).  We couldn’t takes photos in the National Archives so too bad. OH DID I MENTION ITS RAINING AND HAILING AND WE HAVE TO WALK THROUGH IT. Yeah. After the National Archives we went to the Holocaust Museum. I forgot my phone on the bus so I don’t have any pictures once again. After the Holocaust Museum we got lunch at Union Station where I had a satisfactory lunch at
